Do you know that almost two millions of people in the United States are suffering from Deep Vein Thrombosis or DVT? Well, DVT is the most common type of venous thromboembolism (VTE). It can lead into pulmonary embolism (PE) that may make the patients’ life in danger. Even if the patients don’t develop PE, they might still get serious health problems such as post-thrombotic syndrome and recurrent thrombosis.

DVT mostly occurs to post-surgical orthopedic patients and to those who have chronic medical condition. However, immobility that is caused by hospitalization may also put patients in a risk of DVT. Deep Vein Thrombosis mainly occurs in the legs of the patients but we can also find patients developing the DVT in the arms. The worse about DVT is that most patients do not see any symptoms such as pain, redness, and swelling on the body.

Considering the dangerous of DVT, we should know the treatment of this disease. I recommend you to go to VTEConsultant.com to learn about the deep vein thrombosis prevention. Preventing the DVT can minimize the risk of complications for patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. Just go to this site right now and learn the strategy to prevent VTE.

Abdominal hernias are produced when fatty tissue is trying to press its way through the lining of the abdomen’s wall. It has the power to do this by fighting through the weakened areas and muscles of the stomach wall. These regions are weak because of a person is older, birth, or other medical conditions. While it is manageable for someone to live with an abdominal hernia it is can be very uncomfortable and for certain individuals it can be really irritating.

The only method to properly mend hernias is through surgery. Your personal doctor will explain to you the problems that can increase out of doing nothing about the hernia and will insist that you utilize surgery to get rid of it once and for all. The doctor will then explain all of the risks and what they will be doing the day of the operation.

The day of the hernia operation you will have to meet with the pre-operative nursing unit. It is at that place that you will switch into the hospital gown and they will affirm all of the paperwork that has been put in. Afterwards they will take you to a pre-operative area where the anaesthetist will commence the IV and direct you to the operating room. Once the anesthesia has been given to you the operation will start.

The surgeon will go through the operation laparoscopically. This requires that they make a few small incisions. After the incisions have been made the doctor will place tube like tools into your abdomen – which will then be stuffed with gas. The gas aids the surgeon to see inside the abdominal cavity much easier.

A simple camera will also be placed into the abdomen through one of the tubes. This will give the surgeon a good view inside the abdominal cavity. They will utilize other instruments to cut a much bigger incision within the abdomen.

Some surgeons may use open hernia surgery. This is when the surgeon will make one large surgical incision to open the abdomen and fix the hernia. While inside the operating surgeon will strengthen the weak areas of the abdomen’s wall utilising a strong synthetic mesh.

My doctor told me after the surgery that becase my hernia went untreated for a long time and became so large that I could experience pains every once in awhile after surgery for the rest of my life. After the surgery it didn't hurt, and then every month and a half or so I would feel a little pain. Then recently it seems like every other week I am experiencing a lot of pressure where I had surgery. I wouldn't call it pain, it is more like discomfort. It almost feels like something is trying to push down into my scrotum. I assume it is the mesh from the surgery. Is this common though, or something I should be alarmed about? I want real answers, not, SEE A DOCTOR. Thanks.

Femoral hernia surgery in India offers some of the best facilities combined with surgeons whose expertise is equal to the best available in any country. While Indian healthcare is renowned worldwide, the growth in medical tourism has seen a large part of this growth come in femoral hernia surgery. The concept has broad appeal, as Indian private facilities offer advanced technology and high-quality to the abroad patients who wish to have their femoral hernia surgery in India. Medical healthcare facilities provided at hernia hospitals are as par with in the major industrialized countries at a fraction of the cost, with some treatments just a tenth of the price of comparable western hospitals! Once in India patient can be rest assured about patient’s proper diagnosis and medication. Furthermore, if situation demands, surgery packages are also within patients reach. Medical Treatment in India is amid the best in the world, facilitated by the most skilled doctors and up to the minute super sphere hospitals of India.

What is Femoral Hernia?

A femoral hernia is a loop of intestine, or another part of the abdominal contents, that has been forced out of the abdomen through a channel called the “femoral canal” – a tube-shaped passage at the top of the front of the thigh. The loop is usually only the size of a grape.

A femoral hernia can cause serious medical problems if left untreated, even if there are no troublesome symptoms to begin with. Treatment is by an operation to return the herniated intestine to its proper place and close the weakness in the abdominal wall.

The procedure of Femoral Hernia Surgery:

The Femoral Hernia surgery is generally performed through an incision about 10cm long either over the hernia itself or on the lower abdomen. The procedure involves opening up the femoral canal, returning the loop of intestine or intestinal covering back to the abdomen, and then patching up the canal to repair the defect that let the hernia through in the first place. The top of the femoral canal may be reinforced by a mesh made of a synthetic material that does not irritate the body.

If the hernia has become strangulated, and part of the intestine damaged, the affected segment of intestine may need to be removed and the two ends of healthy intestine connected. This is more complex surgery and requires a longer stay in hospital.

.

Femoral Hernia Surgery in India:

Femoral hernia surgery in India offers some of the best facilities combined with surgeons whose expertise is equal to the best available in any country. Medical tourism is a new phenomenon where patients, mainly from Europe, North America and Australia, travel abroad for femoral hernia surgery. This trend started as a response to the increasingly high costs of healthcare and long waiting lists facing patients in many Western countries. Due to these reasons many international patients are having their femoral hernia surgery in India at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad; hospitals of femoral hernia surgery are helping international patients in getting desired results.

Alternative medical treatments, once shunned by medical professionals as “mumbo jumbo,” have appeared to have gone mainstream. An article in the Washington Post yesterday says that more and more big hospitals and clinics are offering alternative therapies. While some offer stress reducers like meditation, yoga and massage, others are offering treatments to patients who are gravely ill.

The article notes that while conventional prescription meds have their share of risks, alternative medicines aren’t regulated by the FDA. Still, more and more patients are looking for a more natural treatment for their medical woes.

“There’s the case of the boy who fled the country with his mother after refusing chemo, because they wanted to try homeopathic methods,” says Tracey Vlahovic, an associate professor of podiatric medicine at Temple’s School of Podiatric Medicine. “That’s an extreme case, of course, but it shows that more and more, patients want to at least hear about having a treatment with a more natural base.”

Vlahovic specializes in podiatric dermatology, the skin of the feet and legs, and offers several alternative therapies to her patients for a variety of foot maladies. While she doesn’t reject Western medicines, she does offer complimentary medicines as an option for patients.

“For certain patients, I wait until traditional, Western medicines fail. And if a patient is open to it, I’ll discuss it with them. Some patients look for something that’s gentle and all-natural. They don’t want to be cut right away, or go to the OR right away, so it’s good to at least have that option.”

No operation is 100% safe and having a tummy tuck is no different. However if you take the time to choose a reputable surgeon then a lot of these risks can be reduced or eliminated completely.

Potential Risks
Possible complications of a undergoing a tummy tuck operation include poor healing, skin loss (necrosis), asymmetries and irregularities.

It is also very important this operation does produce a permanent scar, which can extend from hip to hip. However, the scar can be positioned so that it will not show under most clothing and even under swimwear so it won’t be noticed by everybody at the poolside or on the beach.

Everybody heals differently and because of this the scar could end up being quite thick, raised and irregular. Occasionally, a projection of bulging skin sometimes called a ‘dog ear’ can result. If it is too prominent the surgeon may want to revise this at a later date.

Any infections that you have after surgery can be treated with drainage and antibiotics, however the only drawback is that it will prolong the healing process.

There is a risk of blood clots so it is advisable that you start moving around as soon as possible after the procedure.

Recovery Time After The Procedure
This is quite a big operation, so after surgery you can expect extreme soreness and discomfort. Your surgeon will be aware of this and will no doubt control the pain with medication.

You may need to remain in hospital for two to three days, or alternatively you may want to hire some professional nursing care so that you can return home as soon as possible.

When you do leave hospital the dressing will be replaced with an abdominal supporter and your surgeon will instruct you to wear this for several weeks after the operation.

Bed rest is recommended. To ease the pain and keep you more comfortable you should lay with your legs bent at the hips to reduce the strain on the abdominal area.

It is highly likely that you will be up and about in a few days but you should avoid any straining for three to four weeks. Most people who have had this procedure done are normally back to work after two or three weeks.

Your doctor will encourage you to start walking as soon as possible, however, at first, you may not be able to stand up straight without feeling a lugging sensation. You need to persevere as you body needs to get used to your newly tightened abdomen soon after the operation.

It is unlikely that you will experience much bruising after the surgery but you will have some swelling which may take up to three months to subside. You may also lose some sensation in the abdominal skin, which could take several months to return.

Your surgeon will remove the surface stitches in 5 to 7 days, and the deeper, non-dissolving sutures (with ends that protrude the skin) will come out in two to three weeks.

Vigorous exercise should be avoided until you can do it comfortably, which will normally be about five to six weeks after the procedure. You need to be patient, as it will take nine months to a year before the scars will flatten, soften or fade away.
