Personally, I'm glad the FDA is there. I've heard of so many scams where manufacturers don't actually put in what they say they've put into "health supplements."
If you want to choose alternative methods, the best way is to grow it yourself, or get it from a trusted grower. I don't think the FDA will ever figure out a way to regulate nettles.
We need government oversight for herbal products — there are too many quacks and scamsters out there ready to take advantage of people who read on Yahoo! Answers that creatine was good, or people who heard from some friend that milk thistle will cure cancer.
I'm not saying that herbs are bad — but the consumer needs to take the time to research what they are getting , their dis-ease, and various other things. No one wants to return to the days of Lily The Pink's magical elixirs.

I use Armour thyroid. It's the oldest thyroid medication and it works well. The other person mentioned Naturethroid. It works well too. Below are some links on Armour. Best of luck with the upcoming birth.

you can do this in a food processor, but many health food stores have a special machine to do this. there is a very beneficial oil which separates from the mashed peanuts. processors remove that oil and sell it as cooking oil.
it also depends on the freshness of the peanuts, and the soil where they are grown in. don't know how cost effective it is, but don't your family to have the best?
also, there is no salt or additives or presertatives added in your own mixture.
if you can, make your own.

I've found Melatonin to be helpful. Other things that help can be: getting rid of excess sugars in your diet, cut out caffeine, keep regular sleep hours/times, try to only sleep (or have sex) in your bedroom so it is a place of rest, if it's too light in your room put up room darkening shades/curtains, take a warm bath/hot shower before bed, listen to peaceful music/white noise before bed or when you get in. I don't know if this will help too, but I feel best when my pj's are as comfy as possible and I have cozy sheets (especially flannel in the winter). And since stress is impacting your sleep you can try to relieve it by: drinking warm tea, getting a massage, talking over problems with friends/close family, petting a dog/cat, practicing yoga, and/or (if you believe) praying/talking with God or meditation. I wish you luck.

You should have a lot of great suggestions for marketing in your start up package, from the description you gave I'm assuming your business is a direct marketing company that specializes in Natural Health.
If you want to build primarily online, you'll want to network on established natural health forums and comment on established blogs without promoting your business, You will likely be able to have your link in the signature line, but your purpose in networking will be to establish yourself as an expert.
You will also want to start with establishing a contact list that you can make offers to – again you don't want to just make offers, you'll want to provide valuable and qualified information so that your prospects will keep reading your emails and will stay on your list. It takes multiple contacts to build the trust needed to persuade your prospects to buy from you.
Another great marketing technique online is to write short articles and submit them to sites like ezinearticles.com and so on.
Of course, answering related questions on Answers and other sites like it is another great way to establish your expertise.
Building a business goes much faster when you can find a good mentor to help guide you through the first steps and beyond.

It's great that you are concerned for your mother. She has a lot of stuff to be concerned about, and I hope you can take the time to learn about all of the issues.
I feel for you and your mother. It's hard to believe that they can't get her BP under control. I'll give you my best answer on natural means for reducing BP, but I strongly recommend you find a hypertension specialist. The bloodpressureline Yahoo! group is a great resource, as well. It is run by a hypertension specialist who can help you to find someone in your local area.
On the CHF side, you should find a heart failure specialist, as well. (Not just a regular cardiologist!)
Now, as to how to treat it:
1. Do *all* of the obvious things:
a. No smoking
b. Cut out caffeine and alcohol
c. If her BMI isn't < 25, help her figure out how to get it down there. Obesity, more than anything else, is a huge issue. Check out the DASH diet and the rice diet.
d. Reduce sodium intake and increase potassium intake (fresh fruits such as oranges and bananas can help here). — This is actually a very easy thing to do and might bear fruit, so to speak.
e. Make sure she doesn't have sleep apnea. It can cause high BP.
f. Get her regular exercise, even if it is just walking around a few times a day or doing water aerobics. Build up her stamina. Create a log for this, if necessary, so that she can visually see her own progress.
2. Take her BP regularly. If she doesn't have a digital BP cuff, get her one and make sure she knows when and how to use it. (They're remarkably inexpensive… around $50 for a good one at your local pharmacy.) Have her log BP as well as exercise.
3. Work with the hypertension and heart failure specialists to determine if her medications and their dosages are appropriate. Is Betaloc the right beta blocker? Is a calcium channel blocker such as Plendil indicated? Is her ACE inhibitor (Inhibace) at the right dosage, and does she understand the best times of day to take it? Cartia is a calcium channel blocker. Why is she on two different CCBs? Quinine is not FDA-approved for the treatment of leg cramps. There should be a better way for that, IMO. And if she has shortness of breath at night, why in the world isn't she on a diuretic to get the fluids out of her lungs?!
4. Check out chfpatients.com for more information on CHF treatment. Start by reading "the manual". You might also be interested in the "nutrient stew" section.
5. Ask your mother if you can sit in on her doctor appointments. Write out as many questions in advance as possible and send them to the doctor beforehand. You'll get much more thoughtful responses this way.
Please feel free to contact me if you want to chat about any of this…
Good luck!

I haven't heard of this stuff…but pretty much the only thing I have ever had work on distemper is chloramphenicol. I don't remember the dosage, but if your dog has distemper I would recommend getting it from your vet. Very high doses of vitamin C might also help. I gave our rescued puppies with distemper 250 mg of vitamin C every two hours except at night (more for adults), but I don't know if it was the vitamin C or the chloramphenicol that pulled them through. The section on viral diseases has some more information: http://www.paw-rescue.org/PAW/PETTIPS/DogTip_vitamins.php
I hope your dog is better soon!

Typically the answer would be around 1 month. That's just a basic "be safe" answer. But remember that there is an exception to every rule. You should call your doctor. She would be able to give you a better idea of how long to use other means of protection.

Try "Thursday Plantation" tea-tree acne wash and gel. It's a natural, effective, and easy-on-skin alternative to over-the-counter products. I used it with good results. Remember to wash your face at least twice a day, and pat (not rub!) it dry. Also, have a bottle of "cleansing water" for acne. You can get some at any chemist, and it comes in different brands. A few times during the day, wet a piece of cotton with some, and gently wipe your face to remove the excess sebum and dirt stuck to it.
Do you know that almost everyone has had the "acne years"? Don't think less of yourself for the way you look, we've all been through there, and we certainly don't think less of those who are going through this natural stage in life!

As I'm sure you already know, only exercise can improve strength and speed, but there are only a few supplements that can help with workouts. Most supplements that will help with muscle growth will either give energy (help a workout last longer), help with circulation (to help with recovery from the workout), or are protein-based (to help rebuild the muscles after a workout).
The most popular energy boosters are B-12, Royal Jelly (and other bee-based products), L-Carnitine, Ribose, Creatine, Ginseng, Guarana and Green Tea (both are natural sources of caffeine).
L-Carnitine is one of the major ones for body-building because it helps your body convert fat into energy, so it's a double-duty supplement of what body builders are looking for. Creatine is also a big one because it helps with endurance in addition to energy.
A couple of the more popular circulation products would be L-Arginine and L-Citruline (very commonly used by body builders), but you could also try Cayenne, Butcher's Broom, or a few others.
As far as protein is concerned, your body uses protein to build new tissues and working out literally breaks down those muscles so your body can build newer, stronger tissues, which actually makes muscles grow. If you don't have sufficient protein intake, your body won't build the new tissues as efficiently.
Most body builders seem to prefer whey protein powders because they are easily digested and easily assimilated. As far as your body is concerned, it's just like eating a hot dog or a steak… but it's easier for your body to break it down. There are also vegetarian options available (soy protein, pea protein, etc.) as well.
Any combination of each of those can help build muscle, depending on what area you need the most help in. Good luck!

Please visit this web site to see most of your questions answered about india, http://www.greavesindia.com/html/traveling/travelindia.html
To plan a trip to India, i recommend, http://www.greavesindia.com/
Here are your answers:
1. Can I use tap water to brush teeth without getting sick (most likely)
yes, you can use the tap water to brush your teeth.
2. Do I have to get inoculations to travel to/in India from USA? and what is your view on them effective/not so on…. (I am very health conscious and am not kean on having the shots because of how they are very poor for health but maybe I have no choice "shots or disease") I heave read some places that they are not proven to be very effective and natural pre immunity boosting precautions may be just as effective (herbs and supplements) I really could use some opinions on this. I will be in the Jaipur area.
How prevalent are mosquitoes? I am going in Oct. What is the likelihood of illness from mosquitoes and what kind of illnesses?
I hate using insect repellent (unless someone has a more natural suggestion) DEETS is so horrible for health.
It depends where are you staying, if in agood hotel then you don't need to worry, if you are looking for long stay at some cottage or something like that then you need a net.
3. What are things like there as far as utilities and laundry.
where do you wash clothes?
In the Bathroom which are available in hotels and homes.
4. What are bathrooms like (I have heard there are very different facilities) but that more than half the world uses this type. Where are restrooms out and about, usually, and are they safe to use?
Most of the hotels have the comod types, you would not have any problems.
5. Should I bring germex (alcohol hand sanitizer?) I have sensitive skin and have heard that India has mostly a powdered soap from UK, Not sure if that will bother my skin too much. Can you buy gemex in India?
(By the way, for anyone else that might wish to know, germex or similar products kill way more germs than soap and it would take 30 seconds of scrubbing at least, to do same job with soap and water.
Most of the soaps are available, but you can carry alcohol hand sanitizer if you wish.
If you were EU or US and went to India for the first time….How did you feel and how did you adjust? Did you get used to the different bathrooms, food, and accommodation style ways…?
What are showers like?
I can't answer this because I am an Indian.
6. Did you get sick from water or food? If so, how long did it last and what medicine should I bring?
Yes, most of the foreigners get sick if they are sensitive, however, it lasts for maximum of 3-5 days.
7. Can I bring any natural supplements into India when traveling on a tourist visa? And if so, how do I find out what ones are allowed?
Check with Airport security.
8. What should I wear near Jaipur? I wear jeans a lot and sleeveless shirts and sometimes skirts. If I keep skirts down to half calf or ankle and my sleeveless shirts do not show cleavage, will I be ok? Or am I taking my safety in my own hands? I want to be comfortable without being too flashy or tempting trouble, but I like to dress as much like myself as possible and not like someone else. I love fashion but I respect culture. Please, any suggestions or advice would be so appreciated.
Yes, you can wear, jeans or sleeveless shirts and skirts (except in mausoleums skirts are not allowed). see the suggested web site for more.
9. Where is the cheapest place to get good bottled water? and how much should I buy at once? I drink a lot and will drink even more there, I am sure…..
Bottled water is available everywhere in each shops, just check the cap before buying it should not be cracked already.
10. Are men in Jaipur respectful generally? Do I need to avoid taxi's alone? And I have heard buses and trains are very iffy (that is putting it mildly) is this same in Jaipur?
Jaipur is a small city and people are good, they respect others, travelling in Taxis is safe there in day time, however, you need to be careful in night nithing else. Try and avoid buses and Trains because its too crowded.
11. Are there any short and cheap courses to learn Hindi in Jaipur? where you can begin anytime of year and take only for as long as you wish?
Visit, http://jaipurhindi.com/ to learn Hindi.
12. What are beds like (for sleeping) are they soft, hard, futon, on floor? Are they usually clean in hotels or hostels? (any suggestions for cheap, clean, and safe places to stay in Jaipur)?
yes, the beds are usually clean in hotels, but not super clean in small hotels.
13. Do I need to bring any kind of lock for my door? or baggage?
If you are staying in a hotel then its ok, if not then carry a lock for your baggage. You might need to lock your baggage when travelling by trains.
14. Is it safe for my to drink juice there? or will I get sick (likely)?
Drink packaged juices, drink fresh juices only if you are familiar with hygiene on the place.
15. what kind of electrical outlet adapters will I need to bring for my blow dryer and flat iron?
see the web site for answer.
16. I forget, am I able to eat fresh fruit? I read something about it or peeling or not peeling….Is it ok? Should I not wash and just peel?
You should wash all the fruits before eating it, i would suggest the same. and eating fresh sruits is safe.
17. are open toe sandals acceptable and is it rude to wear bare feet when you are at someones home that you know (good friend)
Open toe sandals are fine to wear anywhere.
18. Should I try to eat with left hand always? (I read that all Indian people only eat with left hand) Should I observe the same?
You are wrong, Indian's eat with right hand and its ok, to eat with any hand. Just when giving/offering anything to anyone try using right hand.
19. Any suggestions on how much money I should carry and in what form for convenience and safety? How easy is it to access more money in Jaipur…..ATM/Banks?
ATms are availablein jaipur, you should carry traveller checks with you.
20. Has anyone stayed with a
